ABOUT US
The mission of the Illinois Dental Society of Anesthesiology is to provide a forum for education and achievement in order to promote safe and effective patient care for all dentists who have an interest in anesthesiology, sedation and the control of anxiety and pain.
Objectives of the Society
a) The advancement of the art and science of sedation and analgesia in dentistry.
b) To promote the safe delivery of sedation and analgesia in dentistry to the public.
c) To provide educational opportunities in the field of sedation and analgesia in dentistry for society members and their support teams and other interested parties.
d) To promote good fellowship within the dental profession and with all other organizations and/or professions interested in the advancement of sedation and analgesia in dentistry.

Topic: Emergency Preparedness for the Office-Based Anesthesia Team
Course Objectives:
- Identify and understand common causes, complications and emergencies of the dental patient.
- Evaluate your own readiness to respond to complications and emergencies.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the Dentist and staff during an emergency.
- Prepare staff for their involvement to assist in recognizing and treating emergencies.
- Understand the use of basic and advanced monitors in the non- sedated and sedated dental patient.
- Review and recall the essentials of emergency equipment and their use.
- Discuss simulation as a training tool for the dentist and staff.
- Demonstrate and implement frequent and effective In-Situ simulations for emergency preparedness.
